Court Appointed Special Advocates, better known as CASA, is a nonprofit organization that recruits, screens, and trains volunteer child advocates to work in the court system in collaboration with other key agencies, legal counsel, and community resources to represent the best interest of children in juvenile court proceedings. CASA volunteers make recommendations regarding appropriate protective and rehabilitative services necessary to ensure a safe and permanent home for every child adjudicated as a child in need of services within the county.

Department of Child Services

DCS receives reports of child abuse and neglect and assigns a worker to investigate the report and address it with various services. These services range from assessing abuse, to building a court case, to referring the child to counseling services. The DCS also provides preventative programs in the county and have material and resources purchased with government granted prevention money.

This nonprofit refers qualifying low-income Indiana residents with civil legal needs to volunteer attorneys in Crawford, Clark, Floyd, Harrison, Orange, Scott, and Washington counties. Volunteer attorneys can assist with divorce, paternity, custody, parenting time, guardianship, consumer defense, landlord/tenant, wills and estates. They do NOT assist with criminal cases.
